If you have knocked the socks off your guests as they stand and cheer because you will settle for nothing but the very best on the day of your wedding, then you know that you have served a truly spectacular wedding cake.

Don’t be distracted by confetti, crashing cymbals and trumpets because when it comes to your wedding cake you need to attempt something truly remarkable.

Conventionally, wedding cakes are cakes that are dished up to all the guests after the wedding during breakfast. Usually the wedding cake is huge and different from the ordinary cakes that are had at other occasions. Usually, the wedding cake will be multi layered and will have a hefty icing decoration with beads and similar embellishments that reflect the event’s grandiose.

Wedding cakes can either have a simple or a complex decoration. Depending on the bakers creativity, each cake will have its own artistic distinction. As long as the cake conforms to its main purpose, that of being edible so that it can be eaten, it does not matter what embellishments it possesses.

Because a wedding cake is an extremely important part of the celebration, here are a few tips for buying the perfect wedding cake.

1. Check the amount of time it will take you for ordering the cake. Time is an extremely important factor when it comes to making wedding plans. Without doubt you would not want your wedding to be a hurried affair. As the wedding cake forms a part of the wedding, you need to devote enough time on ordering the wedding cake. It is better if you ask your local bakeshop how much time they usually take when it comes to wedding cakes so that you can place your order well in time for the cake to be created perfectly. This way you don’t need to be in a big hurry when it is time for your wedding cake to be served.

2. Find out the costs and details of the cake. Many couples find the treats that come with their wedding cake extremely fascinating. But they often forget that each embellishment and each twist on the cake has its own price. Therefore, it is always better for you to clarify with your baker the cost of each decoration that is featured on your cake so that you know just how much you will be paying.

3. Give your baker details of the wedding. Today, weddings are not restricted to the church alone. Today people are very particular and creative about their wedding venue. Therefore, in case your wedding is going to be in some place open, such as a beach or some place, it is recommended you inform the baker about the location. Usually icing can be affected by environmental conditions. So in case your wedding is by the beach or in a garden, your baker can make the necessary arrangements to ensure that the cake is made and placed in such a way that the environmental conditions do not spoil it.

4. Decorate your wedding cake yourself. Nowadays, many people have started decorating t heir own wedding cakes. For those who are in a tight budget, this is an excellent idea. All you need to do it order a simple, plain wedding cake and go to a retail store to buy your own decorations.

So set aside a particular moment when it comes to presenting your wedding cake because your wedding can be given a lot more glamour if you have the perfect wedding cake.

We often wonder what the big fuss on the wedding cakes is all about. Brides pore over its design, flavor and decorations for months on end. Grooms look forward to taking a bite of it. Guests seek it and eagerly anticipate tasting its richness. Wedding cake makers showcase a wide variety of designs on their display windows, making each passerby drool at its magnificence.

We now know that the wedding cakes’ essential role in marriage ceremonies is up there with the wedding dress, the bridesmaids dresses and wedding bouquet. Every guest holds their breath in anticipation of their first glimpse of the wedding cake, the first slice made by the bride and groom, the first forkfuls that the couple feed each other, their first bite of the lovely, rich luxurious cake. So what exactly is the fuss all about? What is with wedding cakes and what does it actually symbolize?

Very few know what wedding cakes represent. Very few understand why bridal boutiques have tons of magazines piled up with various topics about it. Actually, wedding cakes are illustrative of the bliss, as well as the lightheartedness that abounds during the wedding celebration. It shows the bond that husbands and wives will eventually share — it represents the friendship and love that will continue to flourish within the marriage. Feeding each other in front of so many witnesses is deeply meaningful, wherein the bride and groom seem to show the world their affection for each other.

Wedding cakes are, more often than not, a central part of your theme. It links together all the other aspects of your wedding - your decorations, wedding favors, wedding invitations, wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses, among others. The cake is the biggest representation of your wedding theme; it is also the best representation of your personality.

What adds to the glitz of wedding cakes is its design. The essential components of its design are the wedding toppers, the icing, and the color of the wedding cake. These designs and decoration determine the impact of your wedding cakes. A wonderfully made cake with a dowdy design is deemed ineffectual. At first glance, guests already have made a judgment on your wedding cake. The already have a preconceived notion on how dowdy it must taste like. Similarly, an exaggeratedly embellished wedding cake will put a lot of guests off. On another note, there are also a few wedding cakes that look superb - every bit as glorious as those in wedding cakes magazines. Yet, these wedding cakes taste bland. Wedding cakes like these are even bigger disappointments. You are building up the expectations of a lot guests, and you let them fall off a cliff when they get to taste the cake.

All in all, wedding cakes are indispensable. As mentioned above, wedding cakes are the bond that holds you wedding theme together. Without it, your wedding day would seem patchy. It is definitely one element of a wedding that you simply can not do without. A wedding is never the same without a lovely wedding cake.

One of the biggest decisions in planning your wedding is to determine if you are going to use a wedding coordinator. A wedding coordinator is the person that pretty much organizes your entire wedding. Though they are not inexpensive by any stretch of the imagination, they are very helpful and even necessary to a peaceful wedding day for the Bride and Groom. Here are a number of reasons to consider a wedding coordinator for your wedding.

The wedding day itself is the biggest reason that one should have a wedding coordinator. On the big day, they organize everything from the catering, to the music, to the decorations, and everything in between, including wedding party preparation. They also make sure that everyone is where they are supposed to be, and when they are supposed to be there. The wedding coordinator in effect, makes it so that the Bride and Groom can relax on their wedding day and simply have fun.

Not confined to only the wedding day, the wedding coordinator is also the one that secures all of the pertinent equipment, services and places to hold the wedding and the reception as well as wedding party favors and vendor lists. They handle every aspect of the wedding during the time leading up to it, and keep the Bride and Groom informed of everything on a regular basis. The large number of contacts that are handled by a wedding coordinator is really quite stunning, particularly for a larger wedding.

Another key function of the wedding coordinator is to advise the Bride and Groom about wedding themes and decorations. They help to create the perfect wedding, and make sure that the visions of the Bride and Groom are brought to fruition. This is no simple task, but the wedding coordinator is usually in charge of a team of people that can help to ensure success.

When you secure a wedding coordinator, it is important that you ask a number of important questions. Make sure you ask for references, and check them completely. This is vital as the wedding coordinator is the single most important link to the wedding for the Bride and Groom. Any expectations that you will have of the wedding coordinator should be in writing, and clearly defined. This is to protect you and the wedding coordinator if something should not go as planned.

Having a fantastic wedding day is very difficult if you do not have someone planning and placing everyone where they need to be. This important function among many others is the primary focus and reason behind paying someone to do so. The wedding coordinator is the maestro of the wedding, and orchestrates every detail so that the wedding is about exactly what it should be… the Bride and Groom.

I’m getting engaged soon and I’m already planning the wedding!! LOL How much was spent on your wedding? I don’t want anything over the top but I know some people go wild with their wedding budget and I just wanted to know what others have spent. I’m keeping my dress simple, spending more on flowers and the reception. I also really want to have live music at the wedding and not a recording….Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated too! Thanks

At least once a week i have these horrible wedding day disaster dreams. I am getting married in May, and in the dreams, i wake up and it is the day of my wedding, and i think, WOW! I cant believe its here already! Nothing is done, i forgot to send invitations, the caterer doesnt show up, my teeth fall out, i am cooking everything and making CD’s for the reception, my flowers are just stems with dead flowers on them. Is this normal to have these types of dreams? And i am always the only one in the dream.

With more and more couples opting to escape the high costs and stresses of a large and elaborate wedding, the trend of getting married abroad is an increasingly popular one, with the Caribbean still topping the list as one of the most popular destinations for an overseas wedding. Many fall in love with the idea of the tropical setting and backdrop which make for the most romantic of wedding photos, but on investigating the possibilities further, find they are overwhelmed on where to start in trying to arrange the kind of wedding they envisaged. Perhaps the only concept they have of a Caribbean wedding is going to a “Sandals” resort which offers a standard package and often conveyor belt style of wedding, which can leave some couples feeling less than “special” on their big day.

However, with more couples now wishing to combine a truly memorable wedding day with a holiday of a lifetime, perhaps even taking additional family and friends with them to celebrate their big day, finding the right location and the right property where you can truly feel unique on your wedding day may mean looking for truly specialist advice and assistance.

This need has been recognized by Culsen Travel, an independent tour operator based in Bedfordshire. They exclusively feature the Caribbean and specialize in weddings and honeymoons. The company is owned by a couple who have had firsthand experience of marrying in the Caribbean. Five years ago they traveled to the island of Tobago along with 40 guests and enjoyed not only a wonderful wedding day but a memorable large family holiday. “Having experienced getting married in the Caribbean ourselves, we appreciated that it can be very difficult to find anyone who caters for this kind of specialist area. Many couples would like the option of taking a large number of guests with them and perhaps having the kind of wedding they would have had here, but in a Caribbean setting, and at a fraction of the cost, but most holiday companies do not cater for this kind of wedding party”, says Director of Products & Sales & Wedding Planner, Stephanie Morson.

Culsen Travel have therefore established themselves as a travel company who can not only recommend the right island for you, but also the perfect accommodation on the island of your choice, ranging from small boutique hotels, to large resorts or private villas ranging from 2-9 bedrooms with private pools or beachfront locations, often fully staffed, and ideal for larger wedding parties who wish to stay together or even providing a wedding venue within the more private setting of the villa grounds. They feature 10 islands and know these islands and the properties they feature well, and are therefore able to provide firsthand information on what will suit their client’s needs.

With regards to the wedding Culsen Travel offer three styles of weddings:

Hotel & Resort Weddings – the most popular type of wedding, as most hotels offer their own wedding package with a dedicated location within the property for holding a ceremony and have their own wedding coordinator who will take care of arrangements. These weddings are most suited to couples who want a small, simple and inexpensive wedding at the hotel where they have opted to stay, as some hotels even offer a Free Wedding for couples staying for a minimum period of time or booking a certain number of rooms for their wedding party, or staying at certain times of year.

Villa Weddings - Culsen Travel specialise in featuring a range of private villas on 6 of the islands in our programme. These villas offer guests the benefits of space, comfort and privacy and are therefore the perfect location for couples looking for an alternative to a hotel resort wedding. They are often fully staffed and located in beautiful landscaped gardens or directly on the beach, making the ideal backdrop for a small intimate ceremony or a large private wedding with full reception party, and Culsen Travel have independent wedding co-ordinators on each of these islands who will look after every detail for your special day, from arranging the minister to choosing your flower arrangements and organising your catering, the cake and your guest entertainment.

Bespoke Weddings - You may be looking for a wedding venue which offers an alternative Caribbean setting to a resort beach or villa grounds, if so Culsen Travel can arrange for your ceremony and private reception party to take place in a unique location such at a historical plantation house, at a natural beauty spot such as within botanical gardens or the rainforest, onboard a private yacht, at a local church or even at a World Heritage site. Once again their on-island wedding planners will take care of all the details.

Culsen Travel can recommend the island, property and ideal wedding venue to suit you, and put the arrangements in place to offer a more tailor-made service to couples for their special day. They also have a selection of villas and hotels which they recommend for a Caribbean honeymoon. Check out their website on www.culsentravel.com or call Stephanie on 01582 729333. You can also visit them at the special forthcoming Wedding Fayre which will be themed around Caribbean Weddings.

My wedding ring is turning my finger greenish black. It looks like tarnish, except that my ring is solid gold and I have worn it for 14 years. What is causing this? I have not been using any cleaners or different soap so I dont think it is from chemicals.

We’ve been invited to the wedding of a high school friend of my boyfriends, whom we don’t see more than three or four times a year. This is also his second wedding, and we did attend and bring a gift to the first. I plan on getting something from their registry, but since the amount you spend on a registry gift isn’t exactly a secret, I don’t want to offend. What price range should I aim for?
